Rosie’s mind is always racing over the smallest details, yet when it comes to music, everything seems to flow with ease. The Ghent-based band Rosie Stuart writes raw songs in stark contrasts: 100 percent black and white, with no room for gray. At the heart of the band stands frontwoman and songwriter Rosie, whose restless creativity drives the project. At times, her voice evokes her mother’s fearless je m’en foutisme — a trait she carried as a member of the Kortrijk cult band Midnight Men. Others hear shades of Sinéad O’Connor, PJ Harvey, or Patti Smith in Rosie’s striking delivery. Together with her band, Rosie Stuart doesn’t just confront the crowd. They take on the walls around them, the world at large, and even themselves.
