RONKER is not the first state-of-the-art speednoise band to ever exist, but they are the first to coin the term. Formed in the Belgian swamplands in 2020, the band arrived screaming bloody murder and is now hailed as one of the fastest-rising acts in the country’s thriving heavy music scene. Looking like a bunch of mustachioed cloned firefighters, the band often draws comparisons to the Ramones due to its uniformity. That being said, RONKER sounds nothing like a band who would bow down to conformity. Take a dash of noise-rock, splash in a healthy amount of hardcore riffage and top it off with some 90’s emo and you’ve got an indication of RONKER’s sonic assault. Their 2024 debut, ‘Fear Is a Funny Thing, Now Smile Like a Big Boy’, was a critical hit, praised for testing the limits of standard-tuned guitars while remaining hooky. It launched the band to festivals like Hellfest, 2000Trees, and Pukkelpop, and secured support slots for Show Me The Body, The Melvins, Sparta, and Brutus.
